Focus Mode. Just your feed.
X is full of UI noise — trends, suggestions, sidebars, badges, banners. Focus Mode strips all of it down to one column: your timeline. Read, scroll, post — that's it.
Why Focus Mode exists
Look at x.com on a typical desktop screen. Three columns. The middle column is where your friends post. The left and right are everything trying to pull your attention away — trends curated for outrage, suggestions to follow strangers, premium upsells. Focus Mode hides all of it. You're left with what you came for.
What Focus Mode hides
- Right sidebar — trends, who to follow, premium upsells
- Left navigation labels — keep icons, drop text (more vertical space)
- Notification badges — number-only badges that pull your eye
- 'What's happening' panel — algorithmic news
- Banner ads — at top of feed
- 'Subscribe to Premium' nudges — everywhere they appear
How to enable
- Install X Filter Pro and upgrade to Pro ($2/month)
- Open x.com
- Click the funnel icon → toggle Focus Mode
- Your feed is now the whole window
- Toggle off any time — your settings are saved
Focus Mode is a Pro feature
- Free plan — Hide ads, mute words, basic filters. Sidebars stay.
- Pro plan ($2/month) — Adds Focus Mode, AI summaries, engagement filters, cross-device sync, unlimited everything.
Focus Mode is the most-used Pro feature. If you spend more than 30 minutes a day on X, it pays for itself in time saved scrolling past distractions.
X Premium doesn't have this
X Premium gives you a blue checkmark and longer posts. It doesn't change the UI. There's no native equivalent of Focus Mode on x.com — only third-party extensions can hide UI sections.
